š A Powerful Moment for Adult Education:
Director of Adult Education Mayela Aguirre-Ernest delivered a heartfelt message on the impact of lifelong learningāstronger communities, stronger families, and better outcomes for WPS students. She was joined by dedicated Adult Ed staff and over a dozen inspiring students.
š° Budget Update:
After intense discussion and a surprise vote outcome, the BOE voted 6 Yes, 2 No, and 1 Abstention to approve a 1% decrease in Dr. Hillās budget recommendation, adjusting the proposed increase from 6.88% to 5.88%. Dr. Hill and his cabinet will now make the necessary cuts before the budget heads to the Town Council for a final vote in March.

š¢ BOE Recap: Last night, the Finance Committee, led by Chair Leonard Lockhart, wrapped up its 2nd Special Meeting/Public Forum. š” Dr. Hill clarified a clerical error, lowering the proposed budget increase to 6.88% (down from 7.55%) thanks to a tech reevaluation, reducing costs from $1.8M to $1.3M. š„ļø Dr. Hady presented on Technology & Instructional Services, highlighting her strategic focus on reducing frivolous spending by keeping only essential software that truly benefits students and teachers. For instructional services, she emphasized sticking to Dr. Hillās focus on academics and cultureāsteering clear of fleeting buzzwords and trends in education. š Dr. Hady emphasized that Instructional Services Budget increases stem primarily from the new state reading mandate, which required the district to purchase āBookwormsā and āDIBELS.ā #weareWINdsor šš½
