The annual event brought the Windsor community together to celebrate the start of the new school year while connecting families with resources, school supplies, food, activities, and district programs.

Despite some drizzle before the event began, the celebration proceeded outdoors and drew a strong turnout from across the community. More than 2,100 people were served meals, and more than 1,200 students and families received school supplies and other resources.

The event featured free food, ice cream vendors, four bounce houses, games and activities, fire trucks, student performances, the Windsor Mobile Classroom, school supply giveaways, and community resource tables. A special Windsor Public Schools celebration hour also highlighted district schools, student talent, and the spirit of the Windsor community.

The success of the event was made possible through the support of numerous staff members, volunteers, community organizations, and partners, including Niagara Cares, the philanthropic division of Niagara Bottling. For the third consecutive year, Niagara Cares supported Windsor Public Schools’ back-to-school celebration, while Team Members from the local Niagara plant contributed to the event through volunteerism and by donating 1,000 bottles of water for students, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners.

“Our Community Block Party continues to show what is possible when our schools and community come together around our students and families,” said Dr. Michael Mallery, Director of Social Emotional Learning and Family & Community Partnerships for Windsor Public Schools. “This event is successful because of the incredible work of our staff, volunteers, families, and community partners. We are especially grateful to Niagara Cares and the Team Members from the local Niagara plant for continuing to support Windsor families year after year.”

Niagara Cares’ partnership with Windsor Public Schools also extends beyond the Block Party. The organization recently provided sponsorship support for the Windsor Mobile Classroom, an innovative district initiative designed to bring educational experiences, resources, and opportunities directly into the community.

“The Windsor Mobile Classroom is another example of how we are working to meet families where they are and create new ways for our schools to connect with the community,” said Dr. Mallery. “Support from community partners helps us continue expanding opportunities like these for Windsor students and families.”

Windsor Public Schools extends its appreciation to Niagara Cares, the local Niagara Team Members, and all of the organizations, volunteers, and staff members who helped make the 5th Annual Community Block Party a success.
