New student representative is joining the board at the table

Welcome to the new academic year! Our September Board of Education meeting was held this Tuesday, and our board members are happy to welcome back our students and staff. During this regular meeting, many subjects were discussed by the board, including:

Recognition of District Personnel: High school teacher Joe Oblon was recognized as District Educator of the Year, and Sam Dukes was named Paraeducator of the Year. Congratulations to both!

New Student Representative: Bre-Anna Stewart was introduced as the new Fall semester Student Representative to the Board of Education. She has already delivered a strong report on how High School students feel at the beginning of the school year and actively participated in discussions. We wish Bre-Anna luck in the upcoming academic year!

Class of 2027 Graduation Date: The Board approved June 15, 2027, as the official graduation date for the WHS Class of 2027. An updated calendar could already be found on our website.

CABE Level II Distinction Award: Passed a motion (6-yes, 1-no, 2-abstain) to submit the required criteria for the CABE Level II Distinction Award.

Enforcement of Residency and Zoning Policies: The district administration reported strict enforcement of school zoning and the results of verifying annual residency documentation.

First Reading & Adoption of Multiple District Policies: The Board waived the second reading to immediately approve several revised or new policies, including rules on student discipline, graduation ceremony participation, recruitment, and cell phone/personal technology usage.

Reminder: Every Windsor citizen can join the conversation and voice their opinions directly to the Board during these sessions! Join us online or in person to be part of the discussion. You can watch the recording from our September meeting by following the link below:
