Board of Education recognises "Go Baby Go" program

February was a busy yet swift month for the Board of Education. The main topics of the agenda were the proposed 2026-2027 school budget and 2026-2027 school calendar. Throughout several meetings, the Board worked closely with school leaders to review every part of the district's financial plan. Salaries, transportation costs, budgets for each school, technology - every aspect of the budget was thoroughly discussed. The Board was able to review the entire budget in only two meetings instead of three, which is almost certainly a record. Following this efficient review, the budget was accepted with no changes.

Reminder: every Windsor citizen can join the conversation and voice their opinions directly to the Board during these sessions! Here are some other highlights from February meetings:

  • Budget Review Process (02/04/2026): The Finance Committee began its detailed review of the 2026-2027 Budget Proposal, addressing introductory sections of the budget book and answering questions submitted by Board members before the meeting.

  • Future Planning for Contracts (02/10/2026): The Board decided to schedule an executive session to further discuss the district’s software contracts and the DATTCO transportation contract.

  • Final Budget Preparation (02/10/2026): The Finance Committee held a final review of the proposed budget, focusing on areas like transportation, school building maintenance, and employee benefits. After all Board members had a chance to speak and ask questions, the budget was officially handed over to the full Board for a final vote at the next regular meeting.

  • Budget Approval (2/18/2026): During the regular monthly meeting, the Board of Education formally voted to adopt the 2026-2027 Financial Plan based on the Finance Committee's recommendation.

  • "Go Baby Go" Recognition (02/18/2026): The Board celebrated the "Go Baby Go" program at Sage Park Middle School, where students work with Ms. Rickis and Ms. Siekel, as well as local experts, to modify toy cars for children with disabilities to help them move independently.

  • 2026-2027 School Calendar (02/18/2026): The Board of Education held a second reading of the proposed 2026-2027 School Calendar and officially approved it.
