The first month of the year has come and gone, and Windsor Public Schools is excited to share the highlights from our January Board of Education meetings! This month, the Board transitioned into a busy season of budget planning, featuring the Acting Superintendent’s 2026-2027 budget proposal and the start of several public forums. Reminder: every Windsor citizen can join the conversation and voice their opinions on the upcoming school year's budget directly to the Board during these sessions.
Superintendent Appointment Process (1/14/2026): The Board debated whether to conduct a national search for a new superintendent or to consider an internal candidate. Ultimately, the Board passed a motion to bypass a national search and begin a vetting process for an internal candidate, with the intent of having a new superintendent in office by July 1, 2026.
2026-2027 Budget Proposal Presentation (1/21/2026): Acting Superintendent Dr. Noha Abdel-Hady presented the district's budget proposal, which included suggestions for adding elementary world language classes and more para-educators. Following the presentation, the Board held a public forum where the Board, along with community members, gave their feedback regarding the proposed budget. You may familiarize yourself with the proposed budget on the Board of Education Budget page.
Recognition of Student Representative (1/21/2026): The Board thanked Brooklynn Smart for her service as the Board of Education Student Representative. Ms. Smart, completing her fall semester tenure, welcomed the New Year and shared her last update from Windsor High School, mentioning concerts and the 2026 Grad Panel.
District "Reset" and Academic Initiatives (1/21/2026): Dr. Abdel-Hady reported that the district is conducting a "reset" to strengthen culture and academics across all schools following the winter break. This includes Coffee Talks and updates from AI and Band Task Forces, as well as a recap of the "Leaving Your Legacy" - the newest grade 12 English elective at Windsor High.
