On January 21, our Acting Superintendent, Dr. Abdel-Hady, hosted two important coffee talks.
The morning coffee talk was created in collaboration with Rev. Nadine A. Thomas, PhD. Rev. Thomas is the Executive Director of The Underground NE, a nonprofit organization that works to eradicate human trafficking in Connecticut and all of New England. The organization’s flagship Adult Mentor Program provides care for adult survivors of human trafficking. With over 20 years of leadership in social justice and nonprofit work, Nadine is an invaluable resource for our community. Her presentation included stories of survivors and tips on how to recognize a person who is being trafficked.
The second coffee talk of the day moved with the flow of conversation. Per participants’ request, principals highlighted many great things happening in each building and encouraged parents to attend school events. WPS received great feedback regarding involvement opportunities and the academic choices provided to students. Thank you, dear parents, for the gratitude and respect you have for the Windsor Public School system!
