Yesterday, the Office of Family and Community Partnerships hosted the Instructional Practices and Core Wheel Workshop for families. During this session, parents explored what the Instructional Wheel is and how it guides classroom teaching and learning. They saw how Windsor teachers use the Wheel to ask higher-level thinking questions that stretch students’ minds, and reflected on what the Wheel means to them as parents, considering how they can support these practices at home.
Families also learned strategies for giving children meaningful feedback, facilitating thinking that is both visible and audible, and supporting the expectations set for Windsor graduates. The atmosphere was open and comfortable, with many parents sharing success stories about applying ideas from previous OFCP workshops.
