Lyla

As summer brings a refreshing change of pace, it’s the perfect time to highlight the achievements of Windsor students. One such student is Lyla Daly, who made a lasting impact during her time at Sage Park Middle School. On March 29, 2025, Lyla proudly represented Windsor Public Schools at the Connecticut State History Day regional competition held at UCONN. With support from one of her teachers Ms. Kimberly McGee, Lyla created an exhibit on "The Great Hartford Circus Fire of 1944," exploring the theme of rights and responsibilities. Her hard work earned her an Honorable Mention, allowing her to advance to the state competition on May 3, 2025.

At the state contest, Lyla competed in the Junior Individual Exhibit category alongside 19 other student projects. Lyla’s determination and enthusiasm for history remain strong, and she’s already looking forward to next year’s competition.
