Flag Football Team

As the academic year comes to an end, the Board of Education likes to celebrate the achievements of our students and teachers! This month’s Board of Education meeting, held on April 21, 2026, was primarily focused on recognizing the achievements of our wonderful students and staff. Additionally, the board set a new last day of school, taking into account all the snow days our students had to stay home instead of attending classes.

Reminder: every Windsor citizen can join the conversation and voice their opinions directly to the Board during these sessions! Join us online or in person to be part of the discussion. Here are some highlights from our April meeting:

  • Celebration of Student Athletes: The Board recognized the Windsor High School Girls Flag Football team for winning the 2025 Central Connecticut Conference title and the Windsor High School Boys Basketball team for winning the 2026 CIAC Division II Championship.

  • Teacher Appreciation: A proclamation was read declaring May 4-8, 2026, as Teacher Appreciation Week in Windsor to honor the dedication and impact of the district's teaching staff. Don't forget to thank your favorite teachers!

  • Literacy Program Recognition: Poquonock Elementary School was highlighted for its successful literacy initiatives, including the "One School, One Book" and "ReadBowl" programs, the latter of which earned them State Reading Champions status the previous year.

  • Last Day of School Adjustment: The Board has approved June 15, 2026, as the updated last day of school. June 15 would also be an early dismissal day for all students. This adjustment was made based on the number of snow days this year, moving the last day of school 4 days later.
