The
Roger Wolcott Early Childhood Center program, in
collaboration with parents and community, fosters
students’ healthy cognitive, social, emotional and
physical growth. The Center provides a learning
environment that is child-centered, safe, and nurturing.
Emphasis is placed on promoting, in every child, a
positive sense of self-worth along with age appropriate
levels of independence and personal responsibility.
The
Early Childhood Center maintains high expectations for
every child in order to maximize the growth and
potential of each. By providing developmentally
appropriate and challenging experiences based on sound
educational practices, the program strives to develop
enthusiastic, life-long learners.
Our goals for 2006-2007 are:
-
To continue to identify strategies that will promote
high achievement for all students
-
To continue to
develop the K+ Club, an extended day intervention
program designed to strengthen early literacy and
language skills
-
To expand our use of
Fast Forward, a computer based program that develops
the cognitive skills essential for reading
