Windsor
High School is ranked 21st of 118 high
schools in Connecticut on Value Added Per Dollar by The
Connecticut Economy (A UCONN Quarterly Review).
The list of Connecticut’s Most Efficient High
School Districts measures which high schools offer the
most education per dollar.

Windsor
High School offers 16 Advanced Placement Courses.
More than 8% of Windsor High School students
take Advanced Placement Courses and 73% of the
students in AP classes score a “3” or higher on
the test, which makes them eligible for college credit
or advanced standing.

More
than 11% of Windsor High School juniors and seniors
are enrolled in 1 or more courses for College Credit
through University of Connecticut and other colleges.

Almost
93% of Windsor High School students earn credits in
Algebra

of Windsor students take the Scholastic Assessment

Windsor’s

High School and ABB have created a School Business
Partnership, which has, more than 40 students engaged
in the USFIRST Robotics National Competition.

School to Career Program has been cited for Excellence
by the Connecticut State Department of Education

Windsor
Teachers are participating in the rigorous National
Teacher Certification Program.
Two teachers have already gained National
Certification and one is in process.

In
the last three years, Windsor staff members have
received scholarships to participate in Harvard
University’s Programs in Professional Education,
Fulbright Scholarships and have been chosen as
Teachers in Residence at the State Department of
Education.

To
continue to assist eighth grade students make the
transition to the high school, junior seminar students
sponsored Freshman Day, a time for eighth graders to
learn more about the high school from administration
and current students. The
middle school students also spent time during the
school day at the high school.

An
identification process for gifted and talented
students entering the high school was carefully
articulated after discussions that began with a review
of the evaluation of the seminar program in the spring
of 2001.

A
steering committee was created and the self-study
begun for the October 2003 New England Association of
Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accreditation.

WHS
architectural design program took 2nd place
in the Greater Hartford Home Builders Association
design competition.

Architectural
design students completed (2) public service projects
for the Town of Windsor.

Business/Industry professionals were utilized as
classroom presenters to provide the Junior Achievement
Career Ed. Curriculum to (1100) students in grades
K/12.

Juniors and seniors are involved in TECH PREP programs
with Capital Community Technical College.

A
Junior Year Parent/Student College Planning Seminar
was held in March.

DIRECTIONS,
a planner for different post-high school options was
created and distributed to every member of the junior
class.

The
Music Department traveled to Myrtle Beach, SC this
year for participation in a nationally recognized
music adjudication festival.
Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble 2
each rated excellent; Jazz Ensemble 1 rated superior
and placed 2nd in its class.
The orchestra was rated superior and placed 1st
in its class. The
Chamber Choir was rated superior and placed 2nd
in its class. The
show choir and Concert Choir were each rated
excellent.

Thirty-two
WHS students auditioned for the Connecticut Northern
Region Music Festival.
Seventeen students were selected and performed
in the Northern Region Festival concert in January
2002. Several
students were also selected to perform in the
All-State music festival in March.
