Oliver Ellsworth School serves nearly 450 students in Grades One through Five. We promote the highest levels of academic, social, and emotional growth in all students. We are committed to developing lifelong learners and problem solvers. We believe that our students are naturally inquisitive, like to learn, and that all children are capable of achieving. In addition to instruction in core academic areas, our programs include the arts, physical education, and much more. We have a Library Resource Center with over 10,000 volumes and we also have networked computers throughout the school that can access email and the Internet. An active PTO and an extensive volunteer program continue to enhance the everyday life of Oliver Ellsworth. Staff members are active in professional development activities and take an active role in the governance of the school. A school handbook, newsletters, conferences, and voice mail all help to improve communication between school and home. Comprehensive school reform is our overall goal for Oliver Ellsworth School. We believe in incorporating the whole community into the learning process. Reading and writing are taught utilizing a balanced literacy approach. Our gool is to teach every studetn to read fluently and to teach them to love reading as well. Ellsworth programs include:
