There are
seven schools in Windsor serving 4,262 students from
kindergarten to grade 12. The school district includes one
early childhood center, four elementary schools, one
middle school and one high school. Our student population
is 36% white, 50% African-American, 10% Hispanic and 4%
Asian-American.
Windsor
High School is a comprehensive secondary school offering
eight periods plus a 42-minute lunch period every day.
Courses are offered at the following levels of
instruction: high honors (including courses in the
advanced placement program and seminar program for the
academically gifted), honors, college and basic. Programs
in tech prep, agriscience, UCONN coop, performing arts,
and math and science are also supported.
Sage Park
Middle School utilizes a team approach with all of a
student’s "team" subjects being with the same
group of teachers. Groupings in all academic subjects,
with the exception of math, are heterogeneous.
Windsor
elementary schools have grades 1-5. These schools
generally maintain the neighborhood concept. We have
diverse student bodies with children of many races,
nationalities, cultural backgrounds, and income levels.
Core curriculum is enhanced by programs in visual arts,
music and physical education.
The Roger
Wolcott Early Childhood Center is home to all kindergarten
children enrolled in the Windsor Public Schools. Our
Preschool and Early Learning Center programs for children
with special needs are also located at Roger Wolcott.
