August 8, 1779 will always be remembered among the citizens of Alabama. That was the day that the people of the innocent town of Midtown. The population of the small town, nearly 6000, was swept away leaving no trace of its existence. Many people still mourn the men and women that disappeared that day but most forget it say that it was a humorless prank.
