Do a DO NOW activity based on this page.  "Look at the continuum describing how people are affected by commercials.  Where do you fall on this continuum?  (Far left?  Far right?  In the middle?  A little to the right or left?) Are you affected a little or a lot by commercials?  Based on your experience, who in society do you think is affected the most by commercials?"  (see attached overhead)

Day 12-13

Advanced Features of PowerPoint Tutorial
Start off the class by showing students a sample commercial created in PowerPoint.  Then have students download to their folder containing copies of the files used to create the sample commercial. Students will use the files and the attached handout-PowerPoint Tutorial to re-create the sample commercial.  If students can do all 8 of the DO THIS items in boxes on the left side of the attached packet, then students have all of the technical skills required to create an automated commercial in PowerPoint. the same files used in the sample.

b. Students get their jobs now and complete the details in their storyboards according to their jobs.  All storyboards will be given to the Marketing Director who will make the master storyboard.  (Students will receive grades for their individual work according to the rubrics attached below).

         êInterview with the CEO -- each group's storyboard and plan are approved by "the CEO."
       The "CEO" can HIRE or FIRE the team -- indicating that they are ready to start shooting their
       commercial or they have more work to do on their storyboard.

êA note about clip art use -- students can use clip art for maps, natural scenes, portraits of famous people (if they want to do an 'appeal to authority') and music.  All other clip art must be approved by the "CEO".  Make sure that all clip art audio files are copied into the same folder where the presentation is stored.

e. Students "mix" their commercials with PowerPoint.

f. Students present their commercials in "The Boardroom".  Defend Your Commercial

g. Finish with a DO NOW activity and PROJECT REFLECTION.
