I know that you might just think I'm saying this because I'm the health teacher, but if you eat healthy, you will run well.
Fruits, veggies, protein, and carbs.
The night or two before a race you should try to eat lots of carbohydrates (pasta, bread...). When running an endurance race, such as the two miles we run in a meet, the body burns mostly carbs. If you have extra carbs in your body, you will be less likely to run out of energy du ring the meet, therefore performing better.
