Welcome to Poquonock School's Accelerated Reading Program.
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading software program designed to allow each student to read at his or her own pace and level of ability. The goal of AR is to improve student reading skills by independently reading a variety of books. AR is available at all grade levels.
Students choose a book from the AR book list, read it and take a computerized, multiple-choice, reading comprehension test. Each book is assigned a point value based on its reading level and length. The longer the book and the higher the reading level, the more points it is worth. This process is repeated with the student’s selection of another book.
