Continuing Education

Mission

Continuing Education programs are multi-faceted. They include comprehensive adult offerings during the day and evening and an extensive summer school program in the summer.
Our mission is to:
  • Provide educational programs that will meet the needs and interests of the adult residents of Windsor.
  • Make Windsor residents aware of the programs and encourage participation.
  • Provide opportunities for remediation, advanced study and enrichment in grades K-12.
  • Meet the needs of and cooperate with local groups, agencies, businesses and industries.
  • Provide flexible program scheduling, responsive to community and individual needs.
  • Use school facilities to their full potential.

The Adult Education program serves the educational needs of adult residents sixteen years of age or older through a variety of evening classes offered each fall and spring at Windsor High School. They include high school completion, adult basic literacy, English language, and citizenship instruction as well as general interest courses in the areas of arts & crafts, computers, dance, health & fitness, home & garden, languages, literature & writing, money management, and personal growth & recreation. Mandated courses are offered free of charge to adults and general interest courses are tuition-based and self-sustaining. High school completion, adult basic literacy, and English language instruction are also available during the day at The L. P. Wilson Community Center. Special programs comprise the inclusion of special needs adults, family and workplace literacy, home buyer education, career exploration/decision making, parenting, community college courses offered on site and collaborative efforts with various town agencies.

Summer School offers a variety of enrichment, transition and intervention programs for students from preschool to grade 12. Special programs include computers, music, art, English as a Second Language, and CMT Preparation.

Windsor strongly believes that education is a lifelong process.
