Windsor High announces a
school contest for
Poetry Out Loud:
National Recitation
Contest. The
competition, presented
in partnership with the
CT Center of Culture and
Tourism, the National
Endowment for the Arts,
and the Poetry
Foundation, is part of a
national program that
encourages high school
students to learn about
great poetry through
memorization,
performance, and
competition. On
Tuesday, January 29,
approximately 15
students from Windsor
High will participate in
the Poetry Out Loud
school contest at the
WHS Media Center at 7:00
PM. The winner of
this competition will
advance to the statewide
Poetry Out Loud
contest. The Connecticut
champion will advance to
the Poetry Out Loud
National Finals on
April 28-29 in
Washington, DC, where
$50,000 dollars in
scholarships and school
prizes will be awarded.
