"Poetry Out Loud" Comes to Windsor High

Windsor High announces a school contest for Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest. The competition, presented in partnership with the CT Center of Culture and Tourism, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Poetry Foundation, is part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition. On Tuesday, January 29, approximately 15 students from Windsor High will participate in the Poetry Out Loud school contest at the WHS Media Center at 7:00 PM. The winner of this competition will advance to the statewide Poetry Out Loud contest. The Connecticut champion will advance to the Poetry Out Loud National Finals on April 28-29 in Washington, DC, where $50,000 dollars in scholarships and school prizes will be awarded.

Attendance at the Poetry Out Loud Contest is free and open to the public. For more information contact Ms. Bialobrzski.
