Board of Education Appoints WHS Principal
Russell
Sills, Principal of Poquonock School in Windsor, CT
was appointed Principal of Windsor High School by
the Windsor Board of Education on Tuesday, April
8th. Mr. Sills will begin his duties on or near July 1,
2008.
Mr. Sills has been an elementary principal in Windsor for
seven years where he has created a strong learning
community that supports staff and students in the
ongoing work of improving student learning. Prior to
coming to Windsor, Mr. Sills spent 17 years in
administration at the elementary, secondary and central
office levels in South Carolina and Georgia.
A committee consisting of teachers, parents, administrators
and Board of Education members interviewed candidates
for the principal position and recommended finalists to
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Elizabeth Feser. Dr. Feser
selected Mr. Sills as the candidate to be forwarded to
the Board of Education. “Mr. Sills has the personal and
professional qualities to lead Windsor High. He is a
leader with exceptionally strong people skills, a laser
focus on instruction, a record of improving student
performance and an unwavering commitment to having every
student succeed,” states Dr. Feser.
Mr. Sills earned his undergraduate and Master’s Degree in
Middle Grade Education from the University of
Georgia. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Educational
Administration from Georgia Southern University and did
advanced studies in Educational Administration at the
University of South Carolina. Mr. Sills lives in Windsor
with his wife and two children. |
